The City of Toronto has extended the Extreme Heat Alert for a second day and is warning residents to take care as temperatures are expected to reach 33 º C.
The temperature at Pearson Airport yesterday soared to 36.3 º C in late afternoon, breaking the record for July 4th set back in 1955.
The City is encouraging everyone to make use of air conditioned public spaces, such as libraries, shopping centres and city- sanctioned cooling centres. Some outdoor swimming pools will also operate on extended hours and remain open until 11:45pm.

If you’ve got an idea we haven’t thought off, leave a comment or email and we’ll add it to the map.

The city also advises that during an Extreme Heat Alert people call or visit isolated adults and seniors who are at greater risk of heat-related illness, to make sure they’re coping. Other groups at risk include people with chronic illness, infants and young children and the homeless.
