The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating after Toronto police shot and killed a man at an apartment complex near Warden Ave. and St. Clair Ave. E. Wednesday morning.
Toronto police were initially called to TTC Warden subway station at 12:16 a.m. through 911, where they found the man shortly after arriving, according to a press release from the SIU.
The agency said there was an “altercation” between the man and police.
But it is not known what the extent of the altercation was and the events leading to the man being shot at the nearby Toronto Community Housing building.

Subway station closed
Warden subway station was closed for a few hours but reopened around 8am Wednesday morning.
Warden Avenue north of Danforth remains closed at this time with TTC reporting bus diversions for the 69A Warden, 69B Warden, 135 Gerrard, 17 Birchmount and 102 Markham.
The SIU investigates incidents in Ontario involving death or serious injury as a result of police interaction.
