It’s disappointing to see that the spectacular mural being painted on the Warden underpass has been tagged with graffiti.
The mural is a sweeping depiction of the Scarborough Bluffs and includes a portrait of Elizabeth Simcoe, the wife of Upper Canada’s first Lieutenant Governor, who is credited with naming Scarborough.
It’s presumed that the artists, De Anne Lamirande, Andrew Horne and Emelia Jajus, will paint over the tags when they finish the eastern wall of the underpass this spring.
The mural is being funded by the City of Toronto through a program designed to discourage graffiti in public spaces.
