Alcohol may have been a factor in a head-on collision that injured four people, one of them critically, on Kingston Rd west of Hunt Club just after 3 A.M. on Sunday morning.
The crash, involving a black pickup truck and a white sedan, sent two people from each vehicle to hospital, according to Toronto Police Sgt. Syed Moosvi.
“I don’t know that they’re necessarily local from the immediate neighbourhood…But we’re in the process of notifying family for one person who’s in surgery. The other people are conscious and breathing are able to notify and talk to family,” Moosvi said.
Kingston Rd. was still closed to traffic as of 8am Sunday morning to allow a police reconstruction team to piece together the details of the collision.
Sgt. Moosvi said it’s not clear if the crash happened on the westbound or eastbound side of the road. It’s also too soon to tell if either of the vehicles was speeding on a road notorious for motorists driving well over the speed limit.
“Our recon team will be looking at whatever the mechanical things from the vehicle itself can tell us along with if there’s any video and the road conditions and any information they can get from the scene in terms of skid distances but that’s exactly what the reconstruction team would look at in order to determine the speed as to whether or not that was a factor,” Moosvi said.
