Retired CTV News anchor Lloyd Robertson will be our special guest reader as Birchcliff Bluffs United Church presents its 20th annual Christmas fundraiser for the Bluffs Food Bank. During “Christmas Miracles: A Celebration of Unexpected Gifts”, guests will enjoy seasonal music and hear the telling of new and familiar stories.
Other guest readers joining Mr. Robertson are CTV Medical Correspondent Avis Favaro, retired head of Centennial College’s Film and Broadcasting program Don Gray and BBUC Minister Rev. Christine Smaller.
Stories include: “The Christmas Ferret” by Stuart McLean, “Carmichael’s Dog” by David Adams Richards, “Sunlight on Leaves” from “Time Now for the Vinyl Café Story Exchange” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” by Dr. Seuss.
Capturing the sounds of the season, music will be performed by the BBUC choir under the direction of Randy Vancourt, and guest soloists. Sing along with some of your favourite Christmas carols.
The presentation will take place Sat., Dec. 15 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person. Order them early in case we sell out. Go to www.bbuc.ca for on-line ordering instructions. Tickets are also available through the church office (416 694-4081) and may be available at the door if not sold out. Donations of non-perishable food items are welcomed.
Home baking and other refreshments will follow the presentation. Everyone is welcome.
BBUC is located at 33 East Rd., Scarborough (Warden Ave. and Kingston Rd.). The building is wheelchair accessible.
