If you live in Birch Cliff, work here or have visited our community, you’ve probably made some sort of connection with the Bluffs Monitor community newspaper.
Bluffs Monitor is delivered to homes and public spaces from the Beaches to the Rouge and includes stories on community issues and events.
It also advertises many local businesses and includes stories on them.
More than a newspaper, the paper promotes the activities and local businesses of Birch Cliff and the other areas it represents.
It is an artifact that preserves the rich history of these communities.
Looking to hire
The newspaper is looking for:
- an experienced sales manager to develop advertising and funding opportunities for Bluffs Monitor.
- a circulation manager to meet the delivery truck at the Scarborough Gardens Arena at 75 Birchmount Road on the first Tuesday of every month, sort bundles of papers for drivers and bag issues to be delivered to volunteers who will deliver the paper to the houses on their streets. Must be able to climb into a delivery truck to unload bundles. This is a paid job. It involves heavy lifting and the person must have a reliable car to take over for volunteer drivers who are sick or on holiday.
- a volunteer to enter Bluffs Monitor photos and issues into a digital archive using Filemaker Pro and Photoshop.
Bluffs Monitor Publisher and Editor Lee Graves will provide training on these applications. This work could lead to a paid job.
