A 58-year old Birch Cliff man is in custody following the stabbing death of his 24-year old son at their 68 Harding Blvd. home.
Toronto Police Services have not said much about the 6:15am incident Thursday, except that the victim was rushed to hospital where he died from his injuries.
Locally the victim and father were identified as Eddy Dwyer Jr., 24, and Eddy Dwyer Sr., but police have not confirmed.
Tom Grundy lived next door to the home for several years and said he knew the family and was shocked and surprised at the turn of events.
“He (the father) was waiting for a lung transplant and needed to have his oxygen tank with him and couldn’t get around much,” he said.
Mother contacted police
Police reported the mother called police about a confrontation between father and son and police arrived to find the victim dying.
Grundy said there’s a younger brother who lives in Oshawa now but that the family were fairly long time local residents.
It’s thought the boys attended Birch Cliff Public School.
Two small bouquets of flowers were taped to a utility pole outside the home this morning while police cruisers and forensic investigators wrapped up their work and police officers knocked on doors.
