It appears that two community meetings are being organized for east end residents whose basements were flooded with storm water and sewage.
We’re still working on getting all of the details, but wanted to post this before the weekend because the first meeting is on Sunday.
Community Meeting #1
Sunday, July 22, 6pm. Location: Joy City Church, 1 McCowan Road. I’ve contacted the organizer for more details. Councillors Gary Crawford and Glenn De Baeremaeker have confirmed they will be attending.
Community Meeting # 2
Councillor Berardinetti is tweeting about another community meeting scheduled for Sept. 6th. No location yet. She’s indicating that city staff will be there, as well as insurance company representatives, Ministry of Finance reps for insurance and our MPP, Lorenzo Berardinetti.
More details as they become available.
The article states the meeting is being held on Sunday, July 20th yet this is incorrect!!!
It should read Sunday, July 22, 2012!!!
Thanks very much for catching that error Catherine. I just changed it.
Unfortunately we couldn’t attend as my Mom’s house had yet another flood in her basement due to gravel, mud and rocks in the sewer drains left from the storm!!! The process to lay a claim with the city is so damn tiresome! Starting that now at 10:00 pm from St. Louis after driving 10 hours. Good luck to everyone…personally? I’d be selling and getting the hell out of “Dodge”!!!
Oh no! Carroll, I am horrified to hear that your mom had another flood. I will pop over there today and visit with her. For anyone who may not know, Carroll’s mom is 87-year old Elsie Ritchie who was visited by Mayor Ford last week. Carroll — can you please go to the”Contact Us” page and send me a private email with your cell phone number so that I can call you? I am also going to cut and paste this comment and put it on the post about your mom.
